Beethoven Violin Concerto
About This Performance
Join us for two world premiere compositions from two very different artists - Gordon Chin, one of Taiwan's greatest composers, and local legend Thomas Pasatieri! Program also includes Rossini's invigorating Barber of Seville: Overture, and concludes on the sublime notes of Beethoven's masterpiece Violin Concerto - performed NWS Co-Concertmaster Brittany Boulding!
Gordon Chin wrote on his newest work, "‘Remembrance’ is a folk song that originated in the southern tip of Taiwan, and some references mention it is likely from an aboriginal source. The lyrics and the melody expresses a deep sense of homesickness.... Although I did use the whole tune for this Fantasy, and I am sure people who are familiar with the tune will undoubtedly recognize it, but at the same time they will find it in a rather strange environment."
